Here’s what I’ve been reading, watching, eating, and generally loving these days. (That’s the only photo I have of myself from the last couple of months…I know it’s awkward. Proceed.)
Reading:
My most recent read was Long Bright River by Liz Moore, and I loved it—I rated it 4.5/5 stars. It’s a fictional take on the opioid crisis in Philadelphia, and it gave me strong Mare of Easttown vibes. Big compliment.
BTW: I’m still trying to figure out the best way to share my book reviews—monthly? Quarterly? Annually?—so if you have thoughts, let me know!
Watching:
Season 2 of Paradise on Hulu. If Sterling K. Brown alone isn’t enough to sell you on it, let me assure you: this show is incredible. Sure, the dystopian storyline makes me worry (*a lot*) about our planet in real life, but it’s unlike anything else I’ve watched. You won’t want to wait a week for the next episode to drop, but I kind of love that we’re forced to.
And yes, of course I’ve also been watching Love Story. It makes me deeply nostalgic for a time I didn’t even experience—the 90s in Manhattan.
Listening:
This podcast episode from Juicebox Podcast and this one from Reclaim Your Rise about the current Type 1 diabetes clinical trial using transplanted donor islet cells. I know anything close to a cure is still far, far away, but this study has made me more hopeful than I’ve been in my 18 years living with the disease.
Eating:

I finally tried the viral Boston restaurant, Capri. The decor is worth the visit in itself—romantic, opulent perfection—but the food was really good, too. We tried the famous honey buns (obvi), tuna crudo, a snap pea salad, and chicken parmesan made with vodka sauce. I can’t wait to go back for another spritz when the chic outdoor patio reopens.
Drinking:
My coffee with Trader Joe’s Coconut + Almond Vanilla creamer. Just sweet enough to romanticize my morning ritual without wrecking my blood sugar.
Wearing:
This isn’t very exciting, but I’ve been wearing so many workout sets lately since I’ve been working out at a studio more often. I recently got multiple compliments on this old $30 Amazon set, and ended up buying a few new pieces from the FORM warehouse sale.
Wanting:
Tickets to Hilary Duff’s tour. I love her, and wish my forever-fan status counted for something, but the tickets are much pricier than I imagined…so I’m waiting it out for now. Maybe if I repeat “This is what dreams are made of” enough times the resale prices will drop?
Buying:
Right before drafting this post, I bought tickets for opening night of The Devil Wears Prada 2. The first movie is one of my all-time favorite and most-watched movies, so consider me *sat.*

Trying:
I went to my first Sofar Sounds show and was so impressed. They host small concerts in secret locations in hundreds of cities around the world. The Boston show I attended was at a cool brewery and had such a chill, happy vibe.
Thanks for catching up with me!
Colorfully yours,
Haley
