Catch Up Sesh: August

Here’s what I’ve been reading, watching, eating, etc.—basically, all the “ing” words— these days.

Reading:

I recently finished Girls With Bright Futures by Tracy Dobmeier and Wendy Katzman. It’s a fictional take on the cutthroat college admissions process in wealthy towns and, whew…I’m scared to think about what that’ll look like when I have kids that age. Anxiety notwithstanding, I found it a super entertaining satire that I couldn’t put down at the beach. I rated it 4.5/5 on Goodreads!

Watching:

Just binged season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty, of course. I’m only human. It’s somehow even cringier than the previous seasons, but I soaked up every minute regardless.

Also, if you haven’t yet, you should definitely watch Your Friends and Neighbors on Apple TV. Jon Hamm plays the hot jerk character a little too well…again.

Listening:

The podcast Conversations With Cam by influencer Cameron Oaks Rogers recently entered my rotation after she was a guest on another podcast I listen to. She’s so down to earth, it feels like you’re listening to a voice note from a friend.

For my fellow T1Ds, I also started listening to Reclaim Your Rise with Lauren Bongiorno––I can’t seem to do anything right with my blood sugar lately, so I’m trying everything I can to get back on track.

Eating:

Other than as many lobster rolls as I can get my hands on, my current food fixation is the Almond Chipotle Dip from Trader Joe’s. It’s a dupe (can you say that about food?) for Bitchin’ sauce, and I love dipping carrots or snap peas in it.

Wearing:

The Agolde Parker Long Denim Shorts…I caved and coughed up the money. In my defense, I’ve been trying similar pairs through Nuuly for the last two summers, and nothing compares to the fit of the OG.

Speaking of which: Use my Nuuly link (or code haley7652) for $30 off your first month!

Buying:

A new couch! It won’t be delivered until October, but my wallet will feel it prior.

In terms of clothing, I snagged the High Rise 90s Relaxed Jean during the Abercrombie sale and am eagerly refreshing the tracking info. I’m an easy sell on anything that comes in petite/short.

Trying:

Grace Freyre’s new Signature Sculpt program on FORM. I’ve been using the app for my workouts for nine months now, typically with trainer Sami, but Grace’s small movements with lower weight are realllly humbling me.

Thanks for catching up with me!

Colorfully yours,

Haley
