One of the most fun parts of my job is getting to see the new merchandise we receive before it goes out onto the floor. Recently, we received a huge box of necklaces. Normally I’m not as excited about jewelry as I am about clothes, but this shipment was certainly worthy of excitement.
The box was from The Giving Keys. The necklaces came in all different styles, but each featured a key of some shape or size. After a little research, I learned that the brand was started by actress/singer Caitlin Crosby. She began engraving old hotel keys with inspirational words. A few months later, she happened upon a homeless couple and invited them to dinner. She soon learned that the wife, Cera, made jewelry. Caitlin, Cera and Cera’s husband Rob went into business together that night.
The Giving Keys continues to employ the homeless in order to get them back on their feet. The company also encourages customers to “pay it forward” by embracing the message on their key and later passing it on to someone else who needs it.
As you know by now, I love nothing more than the fusion of fashion and a good cause. So, yes, I bought a Giving Key right away…duh!
The style that first caught my eye was the Lariat, so that’s the one I purchased. I chose the word “dream” as my message since I try to push myself to follow my dreams in some way every day. I love having this new reminder to keep on keepin’ on until I achieve my goals. (Want to read more about my thoughts on following my dreams? Read this post I wrote!)
If you don’t trust my style alone, Taylor Swift was just seen wearing her very own Giving Key. Now you definitely want one, don’t you? 😉
You can get yourself a key at www.thegivingkeys.com OR come into dresscode Boutique in Andover (aka my workplace) and pick one out in the flesh. And no, I’m not getting anything from either place for posting this, you skeptics!
The next one I’m hoping to add to my collection is the Rebel Lock – perfect for my edgier days!
Which style is your favorite? Let me know!
Colorfully Yours,
Haley
