Making Moves

moving, first apartment

It has been almost two weeks since I last posted to the blog, which makes me so sad! But, my temporary disappearance from the blogosphere has been for an exciting reason.

If you haven’t heard yet, I’m moving to Connecticut! I’ve accepted a position as Junior Copywriter for vineyard vines in Stamford. Needless to say, everything about this job is right up my alley and I am so thrilled!

However…

Moving sucks.

I’m sure most of you know that from personal experience by now. I’ve spent every spare moment searching for apartments online – until my eyes literally burned from looking at the computer screen and my brain was flooded with so many numbers and addresses. It all culminated with a little road trip to see some places in person this past weekend. My parents are still in Florida, so I recruited my friend Melissa to come with me. Thank god she did – I think I would have been in a ball on the floor by apartment two out of ten if I had been alone!

The weekend was super stressful… mainly because Stamford apartments feature New York City prices! Who knew?! Apparently it’s a mecca of financial institutions, so those high rollers can afford to pay. Then there are us creative types thrown into the mix…SOS. Also, it is 45 minutes from NYC, so a lot of people commute. Here I thought I was going to be easing in to the whole so-poor-I-can’t-afford-to-breathe-air life, but I guess not.

Aside from the fact that it’s looking like I’ll be eating ramen noodles for the rest of my life and never having funds to have a social life, I’m ready for a new adventure.

I think.

Maybe.

What’s that saying? “If you wait until you’re ready, you’ll be waiting the rest of your life.”

So, that’s my lil’ update for you guys. I will try to get some posts up before I have to pack up and head out! Thanks for bearing with me!

Colorfully Yours,

Haley
